Well, here we are 6 weeks before Christmas and I am like an excitable kid! I surprise myself because every year I get more and more excited about Christmas! We have a packed schedule from now until Christmas and I cannot contain my excitement!
We soon have the amazing Christmas Fayre here in Bury where we can enjoy rides, songs and hot chocolate with Baileys, a Christmas trip to see "We Will Rock You" with some great friends then Christmas shopping in Harrod's and Selfridge's, a Christmas party with Zoe, Gareth and Georgia and then another trip to London West End to enjoy mine and Kevin's Christmas present to each other - "Rock of Ages". We are going to see this on Christmas Eve and we cant wait. I have never been to London at Christmas and I should think it will be magical, just hours before Christmas Day! From there it will be straight to the Bruns' to begin the Christmas celebrations as all the family begin to arrive!!!
I think I have been driving people at work crazy with my excitement about Christmas! One colleague laughed as she said to me "Angie, calm down, you're not 5!" to which I replied "oh stop scrooging, you're not 80!" :)
The thing is, for me to be so excitable about Christmas is quite an achievement. For so many years, Christmas was a time I dreaded. It was the time I had to be home with everyone and inevitably, the holiday would get ruined by my father getting drunk and having a row with one of us. I just didn't look forward to Christmas at all, any excitement or enthusiasm I did have was not returned and eventually I became as miserable at Christmas time as they all were!
I think that is why I now have a childlike excitement about Christmas! I do feel like a kid again, like Christmas for me is now how it should be! I already know how happy and fun this festive season is going to be. I know with 100% certainty that there will be no rows, no tears and no bad feeling, just fun, laughter and lots of family :D
For me, Christmas is now such a lovely time to spend with family and our lovely friends. I have spent hours choosing and organising lovely presents for them all and am so looking forward to watching their faces as they open them on Christmas morning!
Yes, I am a big kid, but I don't see this as a bad thing, I love everything about it! I am part of such a big, loving family now and also have Lin, the girls and Grandad to see over Christmas too! I love being surrounded by my family and spending lots of time with my gorgeous, now healthier husband Kevin! :D
Now to get shopping finished, put on my Christmas Songs album and sit with a large glass of Mulled Wine as I begin to wrap the presents and decorate the tree! :D
Happy happy times :) xxx
